Our Founders

The late Bishop Lerony English, D.D.,

and the late Evangelist (Mother) Gwendolyn English

Emmanuel House of Prayer, Inc., was founded and established in 1968 by Bishop Lerony English and his lovely wife, Evangelist (Mother) Gwendolyn English under the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit.

With a zeal to fulfill his calling, Bishop pursued the learning of the scriptures earnestly and diligently receiving his Doctor of Divinity degree from the International Theological Seminary in 1978. He was an astute teacher and well versed in disseminating God’s holy word.

“Come With Me and See My Zeal for the Lord” was always Bishop and Mother English’s motto. They demonstrated by example what a completely surrendered life to God should be. Their passion was to win soul for God’s kingdom utilizing whatever vehicle they could to reach many. With integrity and dedication, they did not hesitate to preach, teach and share the love of the Lord and the word of God.

Having run this Christian race faithfully fulfilling their calling. They are now resting from their labor. Their legacy lives on.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Church History

We Believe

We believe the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is our rule for faith and practice.  It is the AUTHORITATIVE and INFALLIBLE word of God.  A revelation from God to man.

We believe the TRIUNE DISTINCTIONS IN THE GODHEAD.  There is ONE God, eternally existent in three distinct persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a gift bestowed upon the believer, for the purpose of equipping and empowering the believer, making him a more effective witness for service in the world. He teaches and guides one into all truth (John 16:13; Acts 1:8; 8:39)

We believe that redemption and salvation is only through our Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of the Father who became man; suffered, bled, and was crucified for our sins. "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under the heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

We believe you must repent, believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, be baptized by immersion in water for the remission of your sins and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

We believe that all things should be done in the name of our Lord Jesus. (Colossians 3:17)

We believe in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He died, but rose on the third day, ascended into heaven and is now seated on the right hand of God the Father interceding for us. One day He will come again in His Glory to judge the living and the dead.
